Chapter 130: Wu Xinjing & Jean (1)
Wu Xinjing’s current hobbies had all taken on an elderly bent.
Jean watched as he finished breakfast, went out to the courtyard, and took out a set of purple clay teaware to brew tea.
The sound of water gurgled as it poured from the spout into a small teacup. A faint tea fragrance wafted up with the rising steam. Somehow, this made him think of the first time they met.
Twenty-three years ago.
He had just come of age and received a gift from his parents - a hefty sum of money, enough to buy the limited-edition sports car he’d been eyeing.
And that’s exactly what he did.
Pocketing the fortune, he eagerly headed to the nearest car exhibition.
This was a high-end auto show, requiring invitations for entry. But for Jean, such things were unnecessary. In high society, his face was the best invitation.
Among the nobles born in recent years, he was considered the most handsome. The media had praised his looks more than once.
Jean was also quite confident in his own appearance.
Like a peacock flaunting its plumage, he unabashedly displayed his wealth and beauty to everyone.
Unfortunately, the event’s exclusivity meant fewer attendees. The lack of a crowd left him feeling slightly disappointed at missing the usual adoration.
But the moment he saw his dream car, that disappointment faded. He turned to the staff member who had been following him since entry and said, “I want—”
Before he could finish, his gaze was drawn to a tall figure.
The man was incredibly tall, maybe two meters?
Of course, Jean noticed him not just because of his height, but because he was strikingly handsome!
Especially those eyes!
He had heterochromatic eyes - one deep black, the other a pale silver-gray. Up close, there seemed to be a faint ring of blue around the pupils, like the dazzling refraction of light in the deep sea.
Jean felt as if his heart had been punched by a boxing glove.
How could someone be this handsome?!
Unable to resist, he took a few steps toward Wu Xinjing.
Wu Xinjing seemed to notice the golden-haired youth as well.
But his first thought was: Is this child a boy or a girl?
The thought flickered briefly before he dismissed it, continuing his conversation with the representative about the car in front of them.
Jean, however, stared at him in a daze. Only when Wu Xinjing walked away with the representative did he snap out of it. “Who is he?”
The staff member naturally knew who he meant, because Jean’s eyes had been glued to Wu the entire time.
“That’s Wu. The car you were looking at was designed by him.”
Jean’s eyes lit up. “The designer?”
The staff member wasn’t entirely sure about Wu Xinjing’s background, but the car was indeed his design, so he nodded. “Yes.”
“I’d like to talk to him.” Jean pulled out a card from his wallet. “Can you arrange that?”
The staff member stared in shock.
It was a black card with no spending limit.
He couldn’t help but look at it several times. But working in such a high-end venue, he knew better this wasn’t something he could take, even if offered.
With immense regret, he politely declined. “I’m sorry, I don’t know much. But I overheard him discussing a flight to Country J this afternoon with his assistant.”
Jean’s car-buying trip took an unexpected turn.
He slipped off a ruby ring and gave it to the staff member as thanks, then drove straight to his uncle’s airline company. After confirming Wu Xinjing’s flight details, he schemingly bought the seat next to him.
He succeeded in sitting beside Wu Xinjing.
Though only a few hours had passed, he had never wanted to see someone so badly in his life.
Just as he was preparing to use the flight time to chat and get closer to this handsome man… Wu Xinjing took a silk eye mask from his assistant, put it on, and immediately fell asleep.
Jean, who had rehearsed an entire speech in his head: “……”
Wu Xinjing slept straight through until landing.
Jean waited so long his eyes turned bloodshot before Wu Xinjing finally woke up. Before he could even speak, Wu Xinjing stood and walked away. His strides were long and decisive, quickly putting distance between them.
Jean’s hand was still outstretched as the man disappeared into the crowd.
After repeated setbacks, his competitive spirit was thoroughly ignited!
He had chased after Wu Xinjing without packing any luggage, which now turned into an advantage.
Unencumbered, he weaved through the crowd with agility, quickly spotting Wu Xinjing’s towering figure.
Just as Wu Xinjing was about to get into a car, Jean grabbed his arm.
Wu Xinjing was halfway inside when he felt the tug. He turned his head, his striking heterochromatic eyes flashing with impatience. “Let go.”
“No!” Not only did Jean refuse, but he also pushed Wu Xinjing inside.
Though smaller in stature, he was surprisingly strong. With one shove, he forced Wu Xinjing into the car and climbed in after him. Then he slapped the half-dazed driver’s seat and commanded, “Drive.”
The driver instinctively glanced at Wu Xinjing.
Wu Xinjing’s gaze swept over Jean’s face.
He vaguely remembered the boy. Being able to enter the car exhibition meant his background was impressive.
As a seasoned businessman, Wu Xinjing had a certain tolerance for potential clients.
“Drive,” he said.
Jean had been worried Wu Xinjing would kick him out, so he clung tightly to the seatbelt. Hearing the order to drive, his expression relaxed.
He thought Wu Xinjing must be stern on the outside but kind inside and eagerly introduced himself. “We met earlier, at the car show this morning. Do you remember me?”
Wu Xinjing: “No.”
Jean choked: How could he not remember someone as pretty as me?!
Indignant, he quickly swallowed his pride, Wu Xinjing was just too much his type. He tried another approach. “Do you think I’m pretty?”
Wu Xinjing hadn’t expected a boy to describe himself as “pretty.”
He tilted his head slightly, studying Jean with an assessing gaze. Not only was he tall and handsome, but his aura was also striking. Even a slight tilt of his head exuded arrogance and mischief, as if he might do something unpredictable at any moment.
Jean’s heart pounded wildly, until he heard:
“Passable.”
P-passable?!
Jean was stunned.
H-how?! I’m definitely pretty!
At eighteen, Jean was undeniably beautiful in a way that blurred gender lines. His golden hair, long enough to reach his waist, was loosely tied with a ribbon, a few strands drifting against his cheeks. His youthful features were soft, making him look like a fairy-tale princess—innocent yet enchanting.
Jean was confident in his looks, but Wu Xinjing’s expression wasn’t lying.
He thought to himself: Maybe Asian beauty standards are different?
But he liked Wu Xinjing’s face too much. Gathering his courage, he blurted out, “I really like you. W-would you like to try things out with me?”
Kids these days are so direct?
Wu Xinjing stared at him before finally asking, “Try what?”
Jean swallowed nervously. “A-anything you want.”
Wu Xinjing laughed.
The kid might as well have tattooed “I want to sleep with you” on his forehead.
He didn’t know if it was Country X’s liberal culture or the boy’s own recklessness.
So young, yet already thinking about this?
Still amused, he replied gently, “You’re too young.”
Jean felt insulted. “I’m not young!” After a pause, he added, “I’m an adult! You can’t be that much older than me!”
Wu Xinjing’s smile widened. “I’m nine years older than you.”
Jean hadn’t expected the age gap to be so large.
He fell silent.
After a long moment, he tugged Wu Xinjing’s sleeve and said earnestly, “I don’t mind you being old!”
His expression was so serious, as if he had genuinely considered their age difference.
Wu Xinjing covered his eyes, laughter escaping his lips.
