Chapter 264: An Uninvited Guest
Yin Chengjue rushed all the way to the Murong family's residence. He had originally thought he would be stopped at the front gate, but to his surprise, just as his car arrived at the entrance and before he could even get out, the gate slowly slid open to both sides.
Lined up in a row on either side of the gate were bodyguards. They were tall, with broad shoulders and thick waists, muscles bulging, all wearing black form-fitting clothes with deep red belts tied around their waists.
Is this a sign that a fight is about to happen?
Yin Chengjue remembered Rong Yu mentioning that he had only managed to escape after knocking down all the family's bodyguards. Looking at the scene before him now, he silently took off his wristwatch.
After thinking for a moment, he also loosened his tie and tossed it onto the passenger seat. He took off the necklace hanging around his neck, his fingertips gently caressing the ring threaded onto it. He brought it to his lips and kissed it, then carefully cradled it in his palm and placed it into a small box inside the car's trunk.
Then, Yin Chengjue got out of the car, rolled his neck, flexed his wrists, and walked inside.
Ten minutes later, the butler hurriedly ran into the living room. His usually impeccably combed hair had fallen loose in places, and his breathing was slightly labored: "Mr. Murong!"
Swish!
Three pairs of eyes instantly looked over. Even the husky nestled in Rong Yueya's arms turned its head at the sound.
Butler: ...
He had almost forgotten that today was a rare day when the whole family was at home.
Butler: "Outside, a fight has broken out."
"A fight? Did he run out again?" Murong Anbang's first reaction was that Rong Yu had escaped again, and he looked towards Rong Yueya.
Rong Yueya paused in her motion of petting the dog's head: "That's impossible. It was specially custom-made by me, the quality is absolutely guaranteed. He couldn't possibly break free. Besides, the bodyguards this time were hired at a high price by me; they used to be mercenaries. Even if he could break the lock, he couldn't beat them."
Butler: "...It's not the Third Young Master. It's a guest who just arrived. Ah, it's the Second Young Master's girlfriend."
Murong Shu exploded: "I've said it's not my girlfriend!"
Butler: "Ah, yes, yes, yes. It really isn't the Second Young Master's girlfriend." Recalling the scene he had just witnessed, the butler quickly corrected himself: "He and the bodyguards were fighting in a tangled mess. I watched for a long time before I could see clearly—it was a man. So, it should be the Second Young Master's boyfriend."
Murong Shu who had just relaxed slightly: ...
Murong Shu shot up from his seat, strode briskly into the kitchen, and quickly came out holding a broom. He kicked off the broom head, holding only the bare stick, and headed outside.
Murong Anbang glared: "You unfilial brat! What do you think you're doing! Tearing the house down!"
Murong Shu: "I'm going outside to beat him up!" Having said that, he charged out furiously.
"Oh my, look how excited he is. The other party is already at the door, and he can't even wait, insisting on going to greet him. How lively." Rong Yueya chuckled behind her hand: "Young people are always so impatient."
Seeing that their assumptions were getting more and more ridiculous, Murong He finally couldn't hold back and tried to clear things up for his second brother: "Actually, it's not..."
Butler: "Hey hey hey! Here they come! Here they come! They're fighting their way over!"
Before he could finish speaking, two people tumbled in, entangled in a brawl. One was grabbing the other's hair, the other was clutching the first's ear. Both were grimacing, faces flushed red, their clothes torn and tattered, not a single intact piece left.
Behind them, a crowd of bodyguards lay sprawled across the ground, groaning in pain.
"Alright! What is this fighting all about!" Murong Anbang clapped his hand on the armrest, finally speaking out to stop this brawl, the reason for which was unclear.
However, the two still didn't let go. They continued to cling tightly to each other, glaring.
"Oh my, truly locked in struggle? Young people are so full of vitality~" Rong Yueya placed the husky in her arms onto the floor, took out her glasses case from her pocket, put on her glasses, and scrutinized Yin Chengjue for a moment before frowning: "Oh my! Why do I feel that Xiao Shu's boyfriend looks a bit familiar?"
Yin Chengjue: "What?"
Murong Shu: "You get out of here first!"
As Murong Shu spoke, he moved to cover Yin Chengjue's ears, but Yin Chengjue nimbly dodged him.
Yin Chengjue wiped the corner of his mouth that had been hit, smearing away the blood that had gotten on it. His gaze swept over the faces of the people on the sofa. Even though he hadn't met them before, he could guess who they were from their seating positions, so he said: "Hello, Dad, Mom, Eldest Brother."
Murong Shu: "Hello my ass!"
Murong Anbang didn't speak, just frowned as he looked at Yin Chengjue, as if there was something he couldn't quite figure out.
Rong Yueya broke into a smile: "Oh my, this young man is really handsome! Come over and sit, would you like some oranges?"
The atmosphere was nothing like he had imagined. He had expected a lecture, maybe some threats, or at least some kind of pressure to make him back down.
Yin Chengjue glanced at Murong Shu, who was still glaring at him with a pair of freshly blackened eyes. Now that reaction made sense. Compared to him, the people on the sofa might as well have been poorly paid extras who hadn't even bothered to read the script.
"Murong Shu! Come here! Look at the state you're in!" Murong He couldn't bear to look at the scene before him anymore and called for his younger brother to come over and sit properly.
Murong Shu reached out to grab Yin Chengjue: "I'll get him out of here first!"
Yin Chengjue dodged him and strode over to the sofa where the family was sitting, saying: "I'm sorry for my uninvited intrusion today. I wanted to ask, is Xiao Yu here?"
"You do know you're uninvited!" Murong Shu said angrily.
Rong Yueya was surprised: "You're looking for Xiao Yu? What do you want with Xiao Yu? Didn't you come for Xiao Shu?"
Yin Chengjue was stunned: "No, why would I be looking for Second Brother?"
"Who's your Second Brother! Don't go claiming relatives randomly!" Murong Shu emphasized again.
Murong He rubbed his forehead: "Mom, Dad, you've misunderstood. He's the boyfriend Xiao Yu found. It has nothing to do with Shu."
Yin Chengjue briefly straightened his clothes, trying to make himself look as neat as possible, and stood even straighter: "Yes, I'm Xiao Yu's boyfriend. I apologize for the abrupt visit today. It's mainly because Xiao Yu hasn't come home all day, so I came looking for him. It was sudden, and I didn't bring any gifts. Next time, I'll definitely prepare properly and come back with Xiao Yu."
Since things had come to this, Yin Chengjue could only brace himself and press on. Whatever moves they threw at him, he would take them!
"Xiao Yu's boyfriend?" Murong Anbang looked at Yin Chengjue with an even stranger expression: "You, haven't I seen you somewhere before?"
Rong Yueya's previously beaming smile also faded: "I remember now, I have indeed seen him. He's Xiao He's precious son. He used to come to our house often to play when he was little. How time flies, he's grown up so much now."
Often? Used to?
Yin Chengjue was stunned. He himself didn't really remember his childhood clearly. He had seen photos before and only knew he had been to the Murong house to play, but he never expected that he had come often when he was little?
Murong He and Murong Shu looked at each other in blank dismay.
With Rong Yueya's reminder, Murong Anbang also remembered. The expression on his face became even stranger, as if he was a bit conflicted, a bit embarrassed to speak.
For once, Yin Chengjue felt somewhat at a loss. He felt that things were completely different from what he had imagined, and were even veering off in an even stranger direction.
Yin Chengjue would have preferred they all use their fists like Murong Shu, rather than looking at him with that kind of... sympathetic gaze.
"Don't you... oppose us? Xiao Yu and I are both men, don't you oppose it?" Yin Chengjue finally asked proactively.
Hearing this, Rong Yueya was instead surprised: "Why would you think that?"
She paused, as if understanding something, and sighed: "Xiao Yu told you, didn't he? This is how Xiao Yu explained it to you? He said we oppose same-sex couples, and that's why he didn't let you come see us, is that right?"
Yin Chengjue's gaze shifted between Murong He and Murong Shu.
Murong He subtly averted his eyes, while Murong Shu snorted: "What good could come from a man and a man? Opposing it is only natural... Ouch! Dad! You hit the wrong person! Why are you hitting me!"
"I'm hitting you exactly right! What era is it now! Still pulling that discrimination crap? Looks like you're regressing backwards!" Murong Anbang said huffily.
"Owww!" Murong Xiaosi ( little fourth) cooperated with a few barks.
Rong Yueya glanced at Murong He, who was sitting upright to one side: "You're in on this too, aren't you? I don't believe your thoughts are the same as Xiao Shu's. You helped Xiao Yu lie to people, didn't you? Lied to others, saying we dislike this? Hmm?"
Murong He: "...No, Mom, let me explain."
Rong Yueya: "Or does Xiao Yu have some kind of leverage over you?"
Yin Chengjue: "Wait! What does this mean? What lie? No, can we put this aside for now? I want to see Xiao Yu first. Is he here? You haven't done anything to him, have you?"
Murong Anbang glared: "You're worried about him? You should be worried about yourself first!"
Yin Chengjue: "Wha..."
Rong Yueya: "Xiao Jue, don't misunderstand. He just means it literally. Xiao Yu is fine for now. Bringing him back was for his own good. As for you..." Rong Yueya revealed that same sympathetic look again, leaving Yin Chengjue completely bewildered.
Rong Yueya: "Xiao Jue, do you... truly like Xiao Yu?"
"Of course!" Yin Chengjue said without hesitation: "I love him. I want to spend my life with him."
Rong Yueya: "...Uh, is this your own idea? You're really not being coerced by him?"
Rong Yueya's expression was pained as she asked: "Xiao Yu... he hasn't done anything too excessive to you, has he?"
Rong Yueya murmured under her breath: "Could it be Stockholm syndrome?"
Murong He, who was sitting close enough to hear this: "...Mom, I really don't think so."
