Chapter 251: Reception
With the Feng Changheng incident, the Feng and Qi families had effectively fallen out. Feng Chengda tried to make amends by offering concessions, but Qi Yunshan had been publicly humiliated in front of so many people—he was furious enough to want Feng Chengda dead, so there was no way he would accept. Besides, the concessions Feng Chengda offered were far too small to matter to the Qi family; Qi Yunshan wouldn't have given them a second thought anyway.
In-laws turned enemies. The Feng family took a massive hit. Feng Chengda wore out his shoes and talked himself hoarse, but couldn't find any enterprise willing to cooperate with the Feng Group in such a short time.
Desperate and with nowhere left to turn, Feng Chengda actually came back around and set his sights on the Yin Group again.
Thus, Su Zi approached Yin He, kneeling and crying, begging Yin He to forgive Feng Chengda.
Initially, Yin Chengjue thought Su Zi was just stirring up trouble, talking nonsense—since her own life wasn't going well, she came to annoy them too.
Yin Chengjue hadn't even really listened carefully to what that woman said. He and Rong Yu simply took turns sarcastically mocking Su Zi before leaving with Yin He.
It wasn't until today, when he saw the clearly edited video trending on the hot search, and simultaneously received a private message from Feng Chengda, that Yin Chengjue gradually pieced things together.
Feng Chengda was truly shameless. He actually believed that an apology would make Yin He willing to get back together with him, and that Su Zi coming to beg would earn Yin He's forgiveness.
And now, Yin He's unwillingness to forgive was being painted as her being ungrateful and unreasonable?
This trending hashtag was also Feng Chengda's doing. His goal was to show everyone how harsh and unreasonable Yin He's attitude was, making Su Zi—who was kneeling on the ground and begging tearfully—seem even more pitiful and helpless in a way that evokes sympathy.
Yin Chengjue looked at the private messages Feng Chengda had sent, his knuckles cracking as he clenched his fists.
"Look at this." Yin Chengjue turned his laptop towards Assistant Guan, who was beside him.
Assistant Guan had been watching Yin Chengjue's expression, curious about what had made him look so grim. He certainly wasn't going to miss the chance to see for himself now, and his eyes fixed on the opened private message.
Soon, he was shocked by its contents.
Assistant Guan: "This... Feng Chengda is still as... um, after everything that's happened, his way of talking hasn't changed at all."
Yin Chengjue: "Highlight the key point: his way of talking to me hasn't changed at all."
After barely suppressing his anger, Yin Chengjue actually laughed. "I almost admire his persistence. Persistently using his uniquely twisted logic to interpret everything around him. I really wonder how he manages to be so arrogantly clueless and self-centered at the same time."
Yin Chengjue was about to say more when his phone rang. He turned to see Yin Qiushi's name on the screen.
He wasn't surprised Yin Qiushi was calling, since this involved Yin He.
After Yin He and Feng Chengda divorced, the relationship between Yin He and Yin Changhong had eased considerably. Previously, to save the old master's face, even if Yin Qiushi cared about Yin He, he had to avoid the old master. Now that the father-daughter relationship had improved, Yin Qiushi could openly care for his younger sister.
"Uncle?" Yin Chengjue answered the phone.
Yin Qiushi: "Those videos on Weibo?"
Yin Chengjue: "Edited. Don't worry, I anticipated they might pull something like this. I already had someone retrieve the complete video from the cafe and save it, just in case. I just didn't expect them to resort to such a low-tech move. It shows they're truly desperate, falling back on a public opinion war—a campaign fought through media and public sentiment."
Yin Qiushi breathed a sigh of relief. "You have the full video, why not release it sooner?"
Yin Chengjue: "No rush. Since they want to play this game with me, I can accomplish a few things too. I'll explain everything to my mom."
He paused, then continued, "Uncle, there's going to be a major shake-up at Huansheng Entertainment in the next few days. Just watch; don't intervene."
Yin Qiushi was startled. "Huansheng? How did Huansheng get involved in this? When Yin Group initially invested in Huansheng, we joined with several other shareholders. Yin Group just held the largest stake. And that part was already transferred to you. I don't mind you using Huansheng to make money, but if you pour all your energy into it, you'd be letting others benefit. If you have that much energy, you'd be better off coming back to take over the enterprises Yin Group fully controls."
Yin Chengjue: "I know. I have a handle on it."
Yin Qiushi: "Alright, as long as you know what you're doing. Actually, I also wanted to ask... for Chinese New Year this year, are you... coming back?"
Yin Chengjue: "Which year have I ever not gone back?"
Yin Qiushi: "You know what I mean."
Yin Chengjue was silent for a moment before replying, "I want to bring him back with me for the New Year too. Can you help block Grandfather's cane for me?"
Yin Qiushi's tone grew heavier. "You little rascal! Handle your own mess! How many times have I already shielded you from beatings since you were little?!"
Yin Chengjue laughed heartily, his mood lifting considerably. "I was joking."
Yin Qiushi: "Have you really thought this through? This isn't child's play!"
Yin Chengjue's tone turned serious. "Yeah, I've thought it through."
Yin Qiushi: "This is your own business; you need to consider it carefully yourselves. You're not kids anymore, you don't need others to tell you what to do... Hah, not that you'd listen anyway."
Yin Qiushi added, "But Dad has been in a terrible mood lately. No telling how long it'll last, and it might affect you two. If you plan on bringing someone back, you'd better be mentally prepared."
Yin Chengjue: "Bad mood? Because of this current incident?"
Yin Qiushi: "No, he doesn't even know about this online stuff yet. It's something that happened the day before yesterday. I've already handled it, but Dad can't get over it. He's been scowling for days. No matter how I try to console him, it doesn't work. I reckon it'll take him a while to digest this anger."
Before Yin Chengjue could ask, Yin Qiushi continued on his own. "Actually, it's not a huge deal, just a leftover issue. The day before yesterday morning, Feng Chengda's parents and relatives showed up. They came directly to the old mansion where Dad lives. A whole crowd of them blocked the entrance, causing a huge scene."
Yin Chengjue suddenly remembered that Feng Chengda indeed had parents and relatives living back in his hometown.
Because Feng Chengda had married into the Yin family, Yin Changhong had Yin Chengjue take the Yin family surname and address Yin Changhong as "Grandfather (paternal)," while Feng Chengda's parents were to be called "Grandfather (maternal)" and "Grandmother" on that side.
Because of this, whenever Yin He took the young Yin Chengjue to visit that side of the family, he never received a warm welcome. They treated him like an outsider, making snide remarks. The children there, following the adults' lead, knew the adults disliked Yin Chengjue. When they took him out to play, they'd deliberately pick up dirty things to throw at him and even pushed him into the creek.
Back then, Yin Chengjue couldn't swim. Pushed into the water, he choked on several mouthfuls, cold and terrified, struggling to get up, only to be pushed back under by the jeering kids. He was finally rescued by a passing adult who noticed something was wrong.
After that incident, Yin He never took Yin Chengjue there again. Yin Chengjue had long forgotten what those people looked like. Occasionally, he'd vaguely remember he seemed to have grandparents on that side, usually because Feng Chengda had occasionally mentioned it in front of Yin He, wanting her to go back with him.
Of course, every time it was mentioned, it turned into a fierce argument, and the matter would eventually drop. Later, Feng Chengda stopped bringing it up. Back then, he still relied on the Yin Group for development, and since Yin He was unwilling, he didn't force it.
Over time, those 'grandparents' became mere symbols in Yin Chengjue's memory, to the point that even after Feng Chengda and Yin He divorced, he hadn't thought of them.
Only now, hearing about it from Yin Qiushi, did he suddenly remember that such people existed, having briefly appeared in his early childhood memories.
Yin Chengjue frowned. "What did they come to make a scene about?"
Yin Qiushi: "What else could it be? Ah He’s divorce from Feng Chengda! They think the judgment was unfair and that she should have split the assets evenly. Ah He’s been traveling abroad a lot lately, so they can’t find her—so they came to the old mansion to cause trouble instead."
When you got right down to it, it was all about money.
Yin Chengjue: "They came all the way from their hometown to stir up trouble here. If they don't get what they want, they're probably not going to back down easily."
Yin Qiushi snorted coldly. "No kidding. They had their mouths wide open, asking for the moon. At first, they were even more outrageous. They said Ah He hadn't visited them for years, so she should leave with nothing. Then they argued that since Ah He is Dad's only daughter, all of Dad's assets should be hers. That way, after she left with nothing, the entire Yin family fortune would naturally belong to the Feng family. Damn, they're completely delusional!"
Even Yin Qiushi, so well-mannered under Yin Changhong's tutelage, couldn't help but curse, showing just how much those people had infuriated him.
Yin Chengjue: "You actually listened to their ravings? Just kick them out. Do the bodyguards do nothing for the money they get each month?"
Yin Qiushi: "...You have no idea how vilely they cursed."
Yin Chengjue: "It's not like they were all throwing their voices—I'm sure you heard every word."
Yin Qiushi said helplessly, "...Ah Jue, who taught you to consider using force first when facing a problem?"
Yin Chengjue: "They're worth it."
Yin Qiushi: "...I'm telling you this to warn you. I've already handled things at the old mansion—they don't dare cause trouble here anymore. But I can't say whether they'll show up at your place. Like you said, they traveled all this way and haven't gotten a single cent out of the Yin family. They're not going to be satisfied. You need to be prepared."
Yin Chengjue sighed, "Uncle, it's precisely because you're too kind that they manage to make you angry."
Yin Qiushi, who for the first time in his life was being called 'kind': "..."
Yin Chengjue leaned back in his swivel chair, his tone flat. "I'm actually looking forward to them coming. I will definitely... give them a proper reception~"
